U11 Boys Celtic & Shamrocks Battle To a 1-1 Draw
It was St.Columban vs St.Columban in U11 Boys soccer action Monday night. Shamrocks opened the scoring on a breakaway by Jackson Dietz. Jack Nolan did well to get a piece of it but the shot was well struck by Dietz who hit the lower left corner of the net. Celtic then answered back later in the half with a superb effort by James McCarthy. McCarthy took the ball down on his own side of center and had room to run. He sped with the ball down the left side and headed for the net. A hard shot beat keeper Jace Barnesky to tie it at 1-1.
Barnesky was busy the rest of the half and kept the score tied at 1-1. Lightning began during the second half and play was suspended. The ref determined we had enough time in to have a result. The lightning failed to let up after a long wait so the game was called. A great game while it lasted. Both teams played excellent.
