Celtics Claim Championship
On a beautiful summer Saturday in Goderich, the St. Columban U11 Celtic boys team claimed the North Huron Soccer League championship.  The Celtics won the coin toss at the beginning of the game, and chose to play downwind during the second half, with hopes that the breeze wouldn't die down.  This proved to be advantageous for the boys.

Goderich came out with a vengeance and St. Columban found themselves trailing 2-0 after the first 15min. Jack Nolan scored the Celtics' first goal on a penalty shot 25 min into the game to make it 2-1. However, Goderich answered back quickly and notched one more before the end of the half to make it a 3-1 deficit.  After a break in the shade, some water, and encouraging words from choaches Jim O'Reilly and Dale McCarthy, the Celtics came out fighting during the second half.  After a back and forth start, and 10 more scoreless minutes of play, James McCarthy put one past the keeper in a scramble in front of the Goderich net. Ben O'Reilly scored the next goal for the Celtics to tie it up, with Kyle Mills getting credit for the go ahead goal.  With 10 minutes left to play, St. Columban played some stellar defense in order to hold onto the lead and to win the championship with a final score of 4-3.  Kyle Mills and Lucas Mahon shared goaltending duties for the Celtics.  Teamwork and best efforts put forth by all players were the contributing factors to the win for the boys.
