The St Columban U18 girls secured a spot in the semi-finals with 5-0 win over Blyth/Clinton on Wednesday night. The score however was not indicative of the quality of play. Under persistent rain it was a close game until well into the second half. Lorren Poland opened the scoring on a nice feed from Amber Rock. Natasha Klaver followed up her own corner kick with a shot from inside the 18 yard line that found the back of net. Emma Flanagan added two, one after Avery Whyte put the ball in deep, and the second on an individual effort. Maddie Hill rounded out the scoring, also on an individual effort. Excellent play by defenders  Tash Klaver, Bre Schoonderwoerd, Avery Whyte, Kaylie Monden, and Amber Rock along with some key saves early by Nicki Van Bakel in goal kept the opponent off the score sheet. The semi-final is slated for Wednesday Aug 9th, opponent and venue to be determined.
