Opportunity to "Play On"
Despite the North Huron Soccer League travel soccer season being cancelled, St.Columban SC would like to offer the opportunity for interested soccer players to continue soccer activities this summer. The Ontario provincial government and the Ontario Soccer Association (OSA) have given us the opportunity to begin outdoor soccer activities. St.Columban SC still feels it is very important to offer a soccer program to our local travel soccer registrants. Our registration numbers are strong enough that we can offer an "in house" soccer program to players born 2010 to 2002. There also may be an opportunity for those born in 2011 and 2012 to participate in the new program if Ontario Soccer Association moves to Phase 2 of their "Return to Play" guidelines.
Our new soccer program would be 8-10 weeks long and would start the week of Mon June 29 or Mon July 6. Sessions would run once per week. Our St.C coaches would run the soccer skills development sessions. Beginning in phase 1 we would gather as a group of up to 10 people to a soccer field. We would do soccer drills with social distancing of 2m. In phase 2 we could start more group soccer drills and have scrimmages and intrasquad games. The time frame for start of phase 2 is unknown at this time because we would have to wait for the Ontario government's and the OSA's approval to do so. All soccer activities would be held at St.Columban SC in St.Columban. In order to provide a safe environment we would follow the OSA "Return to Play Guide" that has been given to us to use as a tool to deliver our soccer program. The registration fee is $50 per player. These fees would help us cover increased registration/insurance costs with the OSA and sanitization costs. Any previous registration fees paid for the 2020 soccer season would be partially refunded down to the $50 per player amount.
