U16 - Girls, 2013 (St. Columban SC)

Congratulations to the U 16 St. Columban girls for being the North Huron champions!  The girls won all fo their round robin games defeating Blyth 7-2, Clinton Red 4-2, Wingham 7-0, and Clinton Blue 5-1.  They went on to defeat Bayfield in the semi-finals 7-4 and Brussels in the finals with a score of 5-0. All the girls played extremely well! The team would like to thank Coach Lee Ann Rocher for her dedication and support throughout the whole season.  Thanks for a great year!

It was a steamy night in St. Columban as the U16 girls played their last regular season game against Blyth. The girls were behind early and went into halftime down 2-1 with a single goal from Mel Nolan. They came back strong in the second half. Nicole Feeney scored to tie the game. Karissa Eckert scored on a beautiful break away goal and Mel Nolan added two for a final score of 5-2. Outstanding play by midfielders Sarah Barbosa, Karissa Eckert and Maranda Klaver as well as defenseman Kelsy Klaver and Char Louwagie made for an exciting game. It was another win for the girls as they defeated Bayfield at home 10-3.  Hat tricks were scored by Mel Nolan and Sarah Devereaux, with Nicole Feeney adding two single goals by Jen Feeney and Karissa Eckert.

Fill-in goaltenders Dani Schoonderwoerd and Sarah Barbosa played will in backstopping the U 16 girls to a hard fought 4-3 win over Brussels. The defense were stellar against a tough Brussels offense, while goals were scored by Mel Nolan, Kristin Looby, Sarah Devereaux, and Nicole Feeney

It was another win for the St. Columban U 16 girls soccer team as they defeated Clinton 7-0 on Tuesday, June 11 in St. Columban.  Kristin Looby scored a hat trick while Mel Nolan added two goals.  Single goals were added by Maranda Klaver and Karissa Eckert
